Physical Therapy and Complete Concussion Management

Physical therapy

Physical therapy can play an important role in concussion care. With appropriate training, licensed physical therapists can utilize their skills to effectively manage concussions.

Physical therapy is often one component of multidisciplinary, collaborative concussion care with other licensed healthcare practitioners. Physical therapists are well-positioned to play an important role in the assessment and management of concussion injuries, and provide ongoing support with respect to treatment and rehabilitation.

Some of the most effective, evidence based treatment options for concussion are well within the realm of physical therapists. This may include exercise therapy, cervical spine rehabilitation, manual therapy, visual and vestibular rehabilitation, and education and reassurance.

Dr. Cameron Marshall, DC and Complete Concussion Management Medical Advisory Board member, joined The Physical Therapy Quest (PTQ) Podcast with George Tate to discuss.  Listen to the entire podcast below.
