Bendigo Concussion Clinic Shows the Impact of Local Concussion Care
The Bendigo Concussion Clinic, newly certified as part of the Complete Concussions network, has rapidly become a lifeline for regional athletes. According to an ABC News report, the clinic is already booked out, with some patients traveling up to 200 kilometres for treatment.
As one of Complete Concussions’ newest certified clinics, Bendigo is an example of how access to local, specialized care can transform recovery for athletes and community members alike.
Patients Are Driving Hours for Help
For years, community athletes in regional Victoria have had to drive to Melbourne or Geelong for concussion assessments. Now, Bendigo itself has become the destination.
Physiotherapist Daniel Hamilton, who leads the clinic, has seen patients come from towns nearly 200 kilometres away because they finally have a trusted local option.
One patient, 24-year-old Jeremy Rodi, shared his story with ABC News. After suffering at least six concussions playing Aussie rules, Rodi began experiencing persistent migraines, nausea, and memory problems. He had to step away from work and sport entirely.
“I had no idea those hits would come back to haunt me,” he said.
Stories like Jeremy’s are exactly why local concussion clinics matter. Regional players can now be assessed, supported, and guided safely back to daily life and sport without delaying care or enduring long travel.

The Bendigo Concussion Clinic is part of the Complete Concussions network, meaning every assessment and rehabilitation plan follows the same evidence-based approach used by leading concussion experts.
Services include:
Thorough concussion assessments and return-to-sport testing
Individualized recovery plans for work, school, and athletics
Education for local clubs to recognize and respond to head injuries safely
By bringing this expertise to Bendigo, Daniel Hamilton and his team are helping reduce the risk of long-term complications for athletes who might otherwise go without care.
A Growing Need Across Australia

Bendigo’s success highlights a growing reality: regional communities need accessible concussion care. Experts estimate that more than 100,000 sports-related concussions occur in Australia each year, yet many go unreported.
Without local clinics, athletes are left to either ignore symptoms or make long, exhausting trips to metropolitan centers.
Clinics like Bendigo’s prove that when expert care is available locally, athletes and families are willing to travel to get the help they need.
