Complete Concussion Management Inc. (CCMI) welcomes Dr. Shirley Blanc, B.Sc., Optometric Doctor (OD), to our Medical Advisory Board. We remain committed to evidence-based, multidisciplinary care, and recognize that vision therapy can be an important component of effective treatment and rehabilitation following a concussion in select cases. Research shows that intervention of various therapies can significantly improve recovery.
“A significant portion of our brain is dedicated to vision and visual processing, and nearly 80% of all sensory processing in the body is directly impacted by information coming from the eyes,” says Dr. Shirley Blanc, OD. “Given that our vision interacts with nearly all other systems in the body, patients should consider vision therapy as a useful component of a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to concussion management.”
The skills and education she obtained through a broad range of specialized courses and certifications in the field of Neuro-Optometric Vision Rehabilitation as well as her clinical experience has enabled Dr. Blanc to provide individualized and research-supported strategies for patients with Post-Trauma Vision Syndrome (PTVS).
