Langley, BC – September 5, 2018 – Complete Concussion Management Inc. (CCMI) announces a new partnership with the Langley Rams of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and Rebound Sport and Spine to implement a comprehensive concussion management program for the upcoming season.
Building off the success of previous years, the program includes: an enhanced concussion program and policy; compulsory online concussion education and training for coaches and trainers; individual multimodal baseline testing; and guided 10-step return to play protocols, including physical exertion testing prior to clearance by team training staff.
“The Langley Rams are committed to player safety. We have a team doctor and trained staff to ensure players are taken care of on and off the field,” says Dana Matheson, President, Langley Rams. “We are proud to partner with Complete Concussion Management and Rebound Sport and Spine to offer the best-in-class care and to ensure the future health of our players.”
Rams players now have access to a network of recognized Complete Concussion Management clinics and trained healthcare providers regardless of where they are in Canada, including preferred access to Rebound Sport and Spine in Langley, BC. All CCMI clinics offer standardized return to activity protocols as well as evidence-based, sport-specific post-injury treatment and rehabilitation.
“Having been with the Langley Rams for four years, we are committed to improving the care for all players. We have seen issues with concussions in previous years and realized that there needed to be a protocol put in place to ensure players were taken care of after a concussion,” Dr. Mark Malowney, Chiropractor, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and team doctor. “Rebound Sport and Spine is proud to provide trained staff, and on and off field care for the Langley Rams football club. We ran the Complete Concussion Management Program last year and found it extremely effective for identifying concussion and safely returning players back to play.”
The Langley Rams are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of their athletes. While concussions cannot be prevented in high-risk, contact sports like tackle football, proper procedures and management strategies can help to keep athletes safe in an effort to reduce long-term complications.
